Replace Instruments

I have a 1986 Catalina 25. It has the original depth sounder and knot meter. Neither work and I would like to replace them. Specifically, I am interested in installing a combo unit for depth/speed and, in the second hole, add a wind speed/direction indicator. Problem is that the hole is too big for the new instruments I have seen. The holes are about 4.5" in diameter.Has anyone seen mounting kits with an adapter for the newer smaller instruments?Or, is there an easy way to patch the hole to reduce it in size?Thanks.

Have you tried the Sailor's Forum at the C25/250 National Association website? This same topic has come up a few times and a few respondents posted pictures of their modifications.
