We need to replace our port curtains and are having a tough time finding someone to do the work (at a reasonable price). Any direction would be greatly appreciated. We are in Dallas, TX but have the curtains and will send to whomever! Thanks for any help!

Don't you have a sewing machine?

You can get one in a yard sale for less than 20 bucks. I would use hand towels for fabric. This isn't like sail making. For no more than you need you could hand sew them in a couple of evenings while watching TV. Unless we are talking about a 60 foot boat in which case "reasonable price" can't be used in the same sentence with "I need" .

More info

A few details would help: make, model, size of boat Are windows oddly shaped? How are the current curtains mounted? Can the current mounting system be used??? Pictures to illustrate the above three questions may elicit more useful answers. Is there a particular problem that you perceive with making these?? Inquiring minds want to know.....

Haven't gotten curtains but I've been

pleased with the pleated shades I've gotten from Odyssey Sail (see link) and I also think curtains are available from the chandlery here.

Navis...

Replace them. Get out the sewing machine... find some material you like... (has to be somewhat nautical) or similar to what is there. Use the old one as a pattern. Done... and a good winter project too! Rich

Peek A Boo Shutters

I have put up Peek A Boo shutters on my other boats and am going to put some up on my new to me boat soon. Check out their website attached. They are neat, visually non intrusive, dont collect and the company is great to work with. Makes the boat look larger. Give them some thought. WE loved them and many that have seeen them on our boat have ordered some also. BTW, I am in no way connected to this company. Just an extrememly satisfied customed. Tony B Could not get link to work...look up zarcor.com
