I have a 1978 Oday 23' and it was damaged by a cracked pvc attached to the piling at my dock. At low tide the life line got caught under the pvc fender and at high tide the stanchion pulled almost all the way from deck. It is currently attached by 2 bolts. I need to repair the area. Area below the stanchion plate which was secured by the 4 bolts is now a hole. Any suggestions on how to repair would be very much appreciated. I do not think I can repair the fiberglass from below. Thanks.

MAS epoxy with Cabosil and milled fiber filler. Clean up the damage so the plug broken out of the deck can fit tightly back in the hole. Trial fit the plug until you are happy with the fit.
Mix up the epoxy and thicken with cabosil and miller fiber until it iis the consistancy of peanut butter. Spread some into the broken fibers of the hole, (put a drip cloth inside to catch what falls though!) and place the plug back into it. Try to fill any voids. Use the rest to smooth out the deck and the cabin inside. You can smooth epoxy putty with a dampened finger so make it as smooth as you can. Clean up drips with rubbing alcohol. Once curred, it is rock hard and sands like fiberglass. If do not plan to paint the damaged area you can add some acrylic paint to the epoxy putty to help match up the colors. Hope that helps! Ghol.
