The previous owner of my boat must have come in a little too fast one day and bent the bow pulpit up and back a little bit. My project for this winter is to fix/repair/replace the pulpit. Does anyone know if there is a metal plate bedded in the fiberglass for the screws to bite into. The screws appear to be sheet metal screws, and I can't get to the bottom side to put in a backing plate. Any info will be appreciated. s/v Seas the Moment 1985 Hunter 23

aluminum plate

You will find that no pulpit is simply held in place with screws into glass only. If there are no nuts seen, you can figure an aluminum plate that is encapsulated into the glass for the screws to attach to. If you cannot repair your bow pulpit and the HOW chandlrey cannot get you one, then I will ask Phil Herring to contact you directly with my phone number as I do have one. Any proceeds will go to a charity that Phil Herring chooses. This will be his choice. Crazy Dave Condon

Replacing Bow Pulpit

Thanks Dave. This pulpit has been welded once, but still doesn't fit properly. I've been out on the boat today trying to plug screw holes before the next rain. You or Phil can email me at <ethomasn5dfc@juno.com> Again, I appreciate the help. Ernie

Try a S.S. Repair shop.

Ernie: You should take the pulpit to a repair shop that can polish S.S. They can weld this and polish it out and you will never be able to tell it was repaired (if done properly). Otherwise replacement is an option.
