I have a 1980 Catalina 30 with need of a repair to deck in the cockpit. There is a circular soft soft approximately 12 inches in diameter a few inches aft of the companionway. After a rain, it leaks down into the aft sleeping area and on to the floor of the galley. The water is dark and stains everything. What is the best way of repairing this?

You're probably going to have to cut the bad stuff out and rebuild the deck in that area. I'd invest in a good book on fiberglass boat repair.
I've got Don Casey's book but the weather's too cold/wet to take on my repair job so I can't speak to how "good" it is. I'm hoping the bad spot under one of my stanchions will be an easy fix and not as invovled as yours is likely to be.
