I am about to encounter my first fiberglass repair job. It is a beautiful boat that got banged up badly on a dock. An area about 10' long along the hull and deck needs to be fixed. MY question is what type and layers of fiberglass should I use. I plan on doing the repair with West System. I will be working in cool temperatures. What West product will work best. Thankyou

Not enough information to offer.......

It's hard to know what to say with no idea of what the damage is. Does it penetrate the hull, is it just a scrape, etc?

Bill, I need more detail to give you a specific answer. The more detail the better. You can work with the WEST SYSTEM 105/205 system in temperatures as low as 40?F - it still cures, albeit slowly at that temperature. It would also be helpful to keep your resin and hardener warmed abit so the viscosity doesn't get too high. A 25 watt light bulb in a cooler works well. Put the cans of each with the pumps in the cooler and you're all set. be sure it doesnt get too hot in the cooler - crack the lid open a bit if this happens. Try to keep it 70ish in the cooler.
