Not Hard
The answer depends on the model year of your boat, but the first step is to get the boat off the trailer and either rolled unto one side or lifted up with at least 18" or so of clearance below the CB slot. the process of removing the CB on a 1971-79 DS II involves opening the inspection bailing ports in the cockpit floor, reaching in and removing the stainless steel bolt that holds the CB pivot bearing in. The board should now slide out of the trunk and hang by the cables. Do not lose the plastic pivot bearing! To remove the board on a 1980-85 DS II (or a later DS III), the boat should be lifted up as above, then the 2 stainless steel plates that hold the wedges that hold the CB pivot pin into the boat need to be removed. On the '80-85 boats these plates are located on the outside of the boat, one on each side of the CB slot. They may be covered in sealant. The pivot pin is a plastic pin, replacing the bearing used on earlier boats. Again the board should slide out and hang by the lifting cable and lowering line.On my 1979 DS II, the lifting cable is screwed to the top of the CB with 3 screws holding a S/S tang onto which the cable is nico-press spliced. I think some earlier boats had the cable glassed into the board, not sure.Parts are available from D&R Marine, (508) 644-3001 www.drmarine.comRudy Nickerson at D&R can give advice on repairs as well.
