I am going to rebuild my saildrive engine in my oday 25. What is the best way of removing it? Can you take it out through the quarter berth, or do you need to remove the galley and pull it from there? Any helpful tips would be greatly appreciated!

Pull it out

I pulled mine last year to change the water pump and now have to do it again due to water seepage around the mating area...anyway, just pull it out the cockpit hatch, it's not too heavy, but it is awkward if you are doing it alone. If you are doing it while on the hard then go ahead and pull the lower unit too....I learned the hard way! Hope this helps Anam Cara O'day 25 MIke

Have you considered going with an outboard?

I had a 6 HP outboard and am replacing it due to age. I know when you want to take the engine in for work it's nice to be able to lift it off and throw it in the SUV for a quick trip to the shop. If you want to here more about outboard performance on a '77 O'Day 25, let me know. I wouldn't have it any other way. Tor
