I need to remove my fiberglass shower pan to replace rotted stringers but it seems to be glued ( 5200 maybe ) to something underneath. I can,t get it to budge so I,m thinking that I,ll have to saw it in two and pry it up in halves. Anyone have a tip on the least distructive way to remove it as I may be able to rejoin it after the repairs.. Any idea where I can still buy one just in case?

Black Gasket Material

I'm not certian what they used between the stringers and the shower pan but I can see some residue of black material that looks like the same stuff that was used between the hull/deck joint and between the hull and keel. It's not as agressive as 5200 but still very strong. Can you get some thin pieces of wood between the stringer and the shower pan to try to losen it up? Good luck...

Shower Pan Removal

Did this many years ago......don't envy you....BUT.....the only way we were able to get the pan out was to cut it NEATLY...in three pieces....and still it was a bear to get out......we removed all of the mastic on both the hull and pieces...glassed the pieces back together and just used the screws to hold the pan in.....this was done in about 93 or 94 and held up beautifully.....Hope I have helped....Good Luck
