My O'Day 25 came equipped with a 1992 Mercury 9.9 with remote run engine controls. The controls are mounted on the footwell wall. The control box is on the inside with the throttle/clutch on the outside. I am trying to replace the assembly, but cannot detach the throttle/cluth lever from the cylendar/shaft that passes through to the control box. Assuming that others have found the O'25 transom height and reverse rake to make the engine unreachable,I'm hoping others have experience with replacing these units. Does anyone recall seeing this before and have any suggestions? All visible bolts, nuts, screws, and washers have been removed. I'm stuck!

Older Mercury remote controls

I have an 83 Mercury 9.8 engine with remote controls. To remove the throttle lever I have to open up the control box. Inside the control box there is a screw that goes in to the lever shaft from the inside of the box. This screw passes through the castings that attach to the cables. The first time I took the controls apart I never even saw this screw. I hope this helps. If you have any questions send me an email at kjackson@ec.rr.com.
