Catalina 270 255 Wabamun. Welcome to the marina
Thats a prefect opportunity to exercise social herding, using the drone, annoying the neighbours, the marina owners, the Covid police, and quite possibly see somebody (Ralph) get a 120v wake up call.
Sounds like a reason to gas up the rv :)

I had a passer by recommend acetone to remove oxidation. Internet opinions are both for and against it. What's your though on it?
No! Too caustic. What has worked very well on our boat is a liquid cleaner/polisher combo from your local chandlery. This liquid works very well removing oxidation and leaving a long lasting sheen. Using the liquid on a buffer to clean and polish very effective.

The only time I have heard of acetone removing oxidation from gelcoat is when being applied with a lit cigarette hanging from one's mouth. Come to think of it that promoted rapid oxidation, then no oxidation, or boat either.

AND strip wax
:plus:

And then without any wax the gelcoat will oxidize more quickly. If you don’t have the time to polish it thoroughly this year I would just clean it with soapy water and try to wax it to give it some protection. Then come back next year and do the whole polish and wax job.

Quick fixes in finish restoration are usually never fixes for long. I considered sinking my time, effort and money into making my 76 25 look better, in the end I realized the 25 is a nice boat but will always need work. It was fun to learn on and served the purpose to get us sailing. The smartest thing I did was to stop "improving" it and put those $$$ and time toward the right boat.

I found that washing my boat with Star Bright Nonskid deck cleaner was a noticeable improvement and I used it on the hull too. We would always do a wash before taking her out, with the family this usually only took about 15 min since we kept her clean and never let her get too dirty. We did deep cleaning and my daughter put a lot time on the teak work in the spring after winter, but after that monthly washes at the minimum kept her shiny and got plenty of compliments for a 1976 boat.
