The cockpit velcro needs replacement. What's the best way to clean that off after peeling off the old remaining stuff. Both the backrest and the seat strips are shot but the cushions are in fair shape and don't need anything done to them to be useable. New velcro from Lowes, heavy duty stuff is my plan for replacement. Talk to me if you have done this before. TIA

Adhesive clean up

Try Goo Gone. It's available in most hardware stores & I've seen it in Wal Mart.

Watch out

I have replaced velcro on many applications. Watch how heavy duty velcro you get. Sometimes it sticks to itself better than it will stick to the wood or it can be like gluing it in place. I've done this before. I went with industrial strength velcro and permanently affixed what I was trying to make removable.

Industrial Velcro

The industrial velcro that you buy at Lowes will break down in the sun and separate from the adhesive. The worst part is that it leaves a huge hunk of adhesive that is extremely difficult to remove. Does anybody know of some sort of self adhesive Velcro-like product that doesn't beak down so fast in sunlight?
