removing name from transom

Just wondering.....if you can't stand the previous name of your recentlly purchased boat...is there an easy way to get a painted name off the transom without harming the gelcoat? Thanks for your ideas.

EZ Off oven cleaner. Do an archive check on this subject, there's plenty of info there.

Painted. You have to spray it on and leave it on just long enough to loosen the paint. You can use a plastic scraper like a bondo spreader to help loosen it up.
