Removing my centerboard

Oday 23 ft drop keel pop top augusta ga.
Ihave a 23 ft O'day with a crank down centerboard.....seems to have a 1 inch pin through the cast iron keel....Can I knock out the pin and remove the centerboard????706 564-4253...Robert....Please Help....
