Hi - it's time to remove the mainsail for the season.
Unfortunately it's the first time doing so on this boat - and it has the selden in-mast furling system (hunter 36) - and I'm a bit stumped.
The problem is at the clew of the sail where the outhaul car has the outhaul line running thru a block in the clew of the sail, back along the boom, thru the boom, and back to the cockpit.
The only obvious way to de-rig this would be to undo the outhaul line from the cockpit back to the clew. This means I get to re-run the damn thing thru the boom in the spring - which seems silly.
I can't see how to undo it from the clew end of the sail because there is a spliced shackle on it, and therefore can't just undo that end from the sail due to the turning block installed in the sail. And I really don't want to pull the non-shackled end all the way out of the boom only to have re-feed it I the spring.
What am I missing here .
