Removing epoxy

It looks like my boat has some hardened epoxy on the deck...some on the smooth surface and some on the non skid surface. It is that slightly "yellow / amber" color and very thin (not a glob). Does anyone have suggestions on what to use and how to remove it?

New boat? Congrats!
I just re-bed my genoa tracks and noticed small drops hardened on my deck. I had good luck using an X-Acto knife with a medium chiseling blade. Maybe because the deck wasn't clean but I was able to chip them off mostly in one piece with no damage to the deck.

The only way I know to remove hardened epoxy is mechanical - scraping, sanding, grinding, cutting.

I was a bit sloppy when I epoxied in a new lazzerette bulkhead. I used fine emery paper to clean up flat surfaces, and I had some luck with a small file for epoxy on the non-skid.

I managed to clean up without taking off too much gelcoat.

Sounds like it might be varnish? If so you can take it up using carburator cleaner and a course cloth.

Your replies have confirmed my thoughts....unfortunately it looks like there is no easy way to remove it and I don't want to make matters worse by being over aggressive. I'm probably going to quickly try the X-acto knife or file and sandpaper. I may be better off and leave it alone.

Yes Bob I did get a "new" boat recently! A great condition C-36 came up for sale so I bought it and sold the C-30. I am really enjoying the C-36.
