I made the mistake of covering up a couple of holes I was going to epoxy on my bulkhead and in the cockpit with Duct tape and now I have the "gd" adhesive all around the holes, I normally use wd-40 or the like to remove the stuff, will that damage/stain the gelcoat/fiberglass? or does anyone have a better way to remove sticky crap? thanks, Greg

WD-40 works as well as

anything marketed specifically for goo removal, and better than some. Won't stain or harm gelcoat...just wash the area thoroughly with detergent and water afterward.

Acetone

This is used to clean up uncured gel coat so does no harm. Works well on most of these soft goo adhesives too.

Release from Boat Life

I just tried a new product from the Boat Lfe company called release on adhesive left after removing 22 year old vinyl tape striping from my current project boat. Its expensive, but it worked great; much better than acetone.
