I have a 1987 O'Day 272 and need to remove the counter top in order to remove the engine. I can not see how the countertop is attached. Any ideas? I've all ready removed all the lower cabinetry.

I don't know the O'Day 272, but I am experienced with limited boat work and have been a cabinetmaker by trade for many years. There will most likely be someone along who is familiar with your problem. In the meantime, you will notice at the bottom of your edit box, a blue button that says, [Upload a File]. This allows you to browse your computer to pick a picture or other type of file to upload into your post. I am telling you this so you might be able to provide some pictures of what you are asking about. Even if we can't help, we all still enjoy looking at pictures of what other sailors are doing.
As far as how to remove your countertop, you wrote that you have already removed the lower cabinets. So, the countertop was not attached to any lower cabinets. It is then, attached directly to the cabin wall, a partition, a support frame? It most likely will be screwed into place from underneath, However, if it needs to be removed to get to the engine, then I would guess there is an easier way, it is hinged or there are dogs that need to be rotated to unlock it. It might even slide out of the way.
