Removing Companionway Threshhold

I have removed all woodwork for refinishing except the threshhold. I can't see any obvious easy way to remove this piece. In the cockpit facing edge are 5 wood plugs which I assume cover screws. Is this true? And do I have to drill those plugs out to get to those screws?Any advise would surely be welcome!Thanks,Robbin

hello robbin, the only attachment for my threshold trim was counter sunk screws put in from the top with no covering plugs. john

Robbin,Part of the joy of owning a boat is all the work you need to do. When you take things apart you have to figure out how to put them back together again. Been there and done that (more to do!)Good luck

Robbin,I had the same problem.If the wood is in great shape, it may be worth the effort to pull off the plugs and then the seven screws. I was unable to do so without trashing the piece. CD direct wanted over $50 for the new piece and it would have to have been recut to fit any way.I made one up out of spanish cedar, but any nice hard wood should do. I made it about twice as wide and can be used as a seat.It look great with four coats of cetol.ljp
