I've got a 351 Oceanis with the 103-10 (M30) Perkins diesel and it's leaking coolant from the water pump. I need to put in a new water pump gasket and would like any advice on how best to pull off the pump. Any special tools needed? The engine only has 500 hours on it, so I'm not replacing the pump itself, just the gasket. Many thanks!

Not Used To Writing My Own Replies, But.........

The water pump came off with a couple of well-aimed whacks of a brass hammer but word of caution for those who are doing this job and want to include replacing the thermostat........ you need two gaskets, not one. The thermostat is enclosed in it's own housing and both it and the backing plate need a gasket. Luckily, my thermostat is OK but I could have been in a real mess if it was faulty.......two weeks to order a duplicate gasket.
