I recently acquired a 1979 ODay 25 and would greatly appreciate if anyone can please let me know how the genoa jib is removed from the Hyde Streamstay Roller Furling without taking down the mast. Many thanks for helping me with this.

There were a few models of the Hyde but I thought they all worked the same way. The head of the genoa is attached to a swivel. The swivel is pulled up the rod with the jib halyard while you feed the luff tape into the slot. To bring it down you should be able to release the halyard and pull the luff down and out. If the swivel bearings locked up you might have halyard wrap at the top. You will have to go up to unravel. It is also possible with a too long luff to jam the swivel at the top. also understand, if I'm not mistaken, that the Hyde furler of that era IS the headstay. There is no foil over a wire stay as in other makes. This is the arrangement on the H34's that came with this make furler.
