remove rudder 27 catalina

i have 27' catalina sail boat with a bent rudder how iget ruddeer out

Kind of depends where it has bent. If it is like mine, the rudder will be set onto a stainless pipe, either way it is unlikely you will be able to bend it straight once it is out. Cutting it with a carbide zip wheel is an option and then looking at the the Booth rudder conversion would be an excellent addition. The stock rudder is inefficient as opposed to a fin rudder, much less weather helm, with more sail up.

I have a straight used C27 rudder in my garage. If you can get yours off without having to cut it I might even be willing to take yours as a partial trade. One of these days I'm going to come up with a better C27 rudder myself. I'm already working on a elliptical rudder design for the C30. -- Dave

Did you manage to remove your rudder. I wish to take ours off at the end of the season, but I expect I will have to do this when it is on the travel lift? or can this be done with the boat on the cradle.
