Does anybody know how to take the companionway hatch cover off an Oday 25? I'm assuming you drill out the teak plugs on the sliders and take off one side, but am just checking. I am looking for the source of a very small leak coming down from above , and think the sliders are the problem.

Yes. You need to remove the Teak bungs. Be very care not to damage the holes. I've always used one of those old fashion egg beater type hand braces. In fact, I just bought a used Craftsman brace in a flea market for $9.00 and I keep it on my boat. It has a wood handle with drill bits inside and a cap that unscrews.
I take a brass screw and cut the head off it and stick the screw in the chuck and use it to drill bit to drill in the center of the bung. When the end of the screw bottoms out on the screw or bolt head under the bung, it should cause the bung to raise right up. If not, then I use a tiny chisel from a craft tool set to carefully remove the bung.
You should be able to buy some Teak bungs at any boat store.
When you reinstall the bungs you want to make sure that the grain is running in the same direction as the molding grain. I use Gorilla Glue on them.
After the glue is dry, you can use a sharp chisel or a small hand saw to cut the bung about 1/16" above the surface of the molding. Then sand it the rest of the way by hand.
