I understand what you are saying about the table converting to a bed. I can away jury rig some board slats. We are not as young as we use to be & like more open area and we are use to eating with the British soft tables anyways. Looks like I have to dive under & go for it. Mahalo & Aloha for the info. JOHN
Before you start, a few things:
The lock ring would require removing the compression post to remove. If memory serves. Although, you may be able to use it for your new table.
The table is merely locked by tightening a bolt against the post. Therefore, while not intended, it is capable of being raised all the way to the roof. Folded or not. This may allow more room below. - it may also turn into a head banger.
OR, you can rotate the table. So if the aft of the table is in the way, you can rotate it left or right.
Or a combination. IE raise a little and rotate with the table folded. Then put back in position when ready to use the table.
Last: whatever you do, do not discard that table. Future buyers will be substantially discouraged by its absence.
