Removal of Boat Name

Let me clarify my questions that I had asked earlier. I had missed explaining about a certain product called imron that the previous owner had applied as a top coating to the paint, on to the name of boat. It is very hard clear layer and may cause a problem to remove the existing paint. Our concern is that it may cause harm to the hull finish of the boat when being removed. What would be the best product or removal procedure to remove this and not harm the finished hull surface? We prefer not having to refinish the hull surface of the boat unless it's necessary after removing the existing name. We had discussed about a decal product application that would cover the existing boat name area with the new boat name. This would be like on a white plastic film that can be applied with a solution to adhere to the hull and then be removed with a removal solution if need be. Has any one heard of such a product, application or company that makes a decal for boat names? Thanks every one, for all the great ideas and suggestions.
