Remote oil filer on Westerbeke M35

I would like to install a remote oil filter on my M35. Anyone have recommendations for best kit or where to look?

May take a little work but these kits are common at auto parts places and Amazon. Don't get hung up on having the relocated filter be the same as the old filter. Some kits will have a larger and commonly available filter. You'd have to measure the gasket and gasket surface of the filter boss on the engine and find the kit that fits.. If you took an original filter to the store, you could figure out which adapter would screw onto the engine.

I just completed this project with the help of my sailing buddy Les.
My Perkins engine was designed for a tractor.

The installation on my boat meant that changing the oil filter puts about a quart of old oil in the bilge. This is the engine. We are installing it after the rebuild. It slides back through the hole in the bulkhead. Once you begin to unscrew the nut beneath the filter can, oil in the filter housing leaks out all over the transmission and below. Even using plastic bags and rags, it was a mess.

Using a:
Billet 4Port Side Entry Remote Oil Filter Mount 3/4In-16 - ALY-153BK from Amazon, AN10 fittings on new hoses connected from the engine block and oil cooler. We located the mount outside the compartment, utilizing a clean spin-on/off oil filter. Changing the filter is now a simple, easy project.

For those of you who are not familiar with the M35, here are a series of pictures, scroll down to Replies #12 & 13 and on. The oil filter is easily accessed from the front of the engine just like the older M25 series engines; and unlike John's problematic Perkins location.

Unlike John's real problem we never had much if any leakage with either paper towels or even a plastic bag around the filter after loosening it a tad. I tried the plastic bag once, only to find out it was messier than just laying paper towels underneath and moving quickly and smoothly to remove the old filter. Some folks suggested tapping a hole in the old filter and turning it to drain. IMHO, a waste of time and also messier.
