You know how we get all those public service messages to replace your smoke detector batteries when the time changes? Well, it's also time to pull out your inflatable vests and waist packs, open them up, pull out the CO2 and check the water-dissolving firing mechanism if it is an auto-inflate. Many years ago, I had one of the early models. When checking it, I found the aspirin tablet used for the auto-fire had dissolved, releasing the pin which emptied the CO2 without inflating it. The very gradual pin penetration allowed it to just bleed off. It only takes a few minutes to check, but it's easy to forget. Just a reminder, Rick D.
