In the 1960's my family sailed a 15' ODay Osprey, a small daysailer that had a small cuddy. What ever happened to this model? I seem to remember that it sailed well, better than the larger DaySailer. Any history of the model would be appreciated.

I have one

I have an ospray, there aren't any around that I know of except for one for sale in Washington. I'm going to sail mine for the first time this year on friday, I've been restoring it for the last 3 months. The rigging is still old, but I've completely redone the hull and interior. It's a really fun boat to sail...

Rod Johnson,

Have seen several around Martha Vineyard

The Osprey was built by O'Day from 1959 to 1968 or so. There are pictures in a 1968 O'Day brochure posted on the web, I'll link below. The Osprey was very similar to anther boat built around the same time (195? to 1962) by Beetle Boats in New Bedford, MA, later Warwick, RI) called the Falcon. I think the prototype for the Osprey was actually a modified Falcon, although the deck of the production Osprey was slightly different. My Dad had a Falcon from 1959 to 1969, I've had a DS II since 1996. He says the DS is a lot roomier and better built. But I have fond memories of the Falcon, even though he sold her when I was just 5 years old.
