relocation-CT to NJ

I'm thinking about moving my cat 22 from Westbrook, CT to somewhere down the shore in NJ. The NJ shore is closer and cheaper I think but may not be as nice as sailing the LI sound. Any suggestions or comments??? How about somewhere on the Hudson??? Thanks in advance, Corey.

Have you thought about the Chesapeake bay

Corey: Have you ever considered sailing in the Chesapeake Bay? It is considered one of the best sailing areas in the world. If the Jersey shore is closer to you than Ct. than the Chesapeake might not be that much further, and I bet you could find a slip or mooring that is less expensive than Jersey or Ct. The marina that I sail out of in Middle River Maryland. has boats whose owners live in Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, and Virginia. We also have 2 C22 fleets that sail the Chesapeake, Fleet 10 in Annapolis, and Fleet 73 that I belong to that sails out of Middle River. relocation ct to nj

check out the toms river, barnegat bay area, always lots of nice wind, can be a bit shallow in parts of the bay though. about 62 a foot for a slip on toms river/ island hts.

Barnegat Bay

Corey, I'll second Jeff. I'm a bit south of him in Forked River, but Barnegat Bay is great, always wind in the afternoon, sometimes lots. I have been sailing nearly every weekend since June; it's my first year there both as both a slip and sailboat owner. Sure, there are some shallow spots, but the fish finder was one of my better investments. You get to know where the shallows are, and even some new ones, but that's the beauty of the swing keel, IMO. Plus you can go places outside the "channel" that would make those powerboaters nervous....slip price range is $45-60/ft, depending upon marina. I'd love to see another C22 to wave at. Good luck!

Sandy Hook Area

The Sandy Hook area is a nice section to sail. You have wide open spaces and don't have to dodge boats like a lot of other places. There are also several marinas in the Syraville area you can sail out of. They're close to where it sounds like you'll be and you'll avoid the shore traffic.
