I have a 79 o'day and if your boom is the same size as mine i doubt it would take the loads for mid boom sheeting which would be required for a traveler on the cabin head. so if you do this I think I would consider a new boom. One way to get some more room is to move the attachment for the mainsheet further aft on the boom. however this would require getting a new sheet that is longer to allow for the extra line needed when running and the main is all the way out to the aft lower shrouds.
