My throtle cable is frozen. I am going to relocate it to the side of the starbord lazarette since the Merryman Pedistal cannot be taken apart easily. Is there anyone out there that has done this and and offer some advice. I'm not sure what size cable to use.

I would reconsider your action. Replacing the cable is really not that difficult. You can always have a pro do it. The cable is probably less than $50. The new throttle assy is probably about $250-300. Then you need to replace two cables (throttle & fuel).

My boat yard says it its going to be very costly to put a new cable in since there is a clip inside the tube of the pedistal that will also need replacing. This would require the disassembly of the old Merryman pedistal. The gear shift cable still works ok. I found a throttle lever at the consignment shop so all I will need is a new cable.

Still think I should reconsider?

Most of the cables for wheel steering are the 3300 series cables and knowing the lengths would help. One of the most frustrating jobs is running the new cable thru the wheel steering. If you take the rubber seals and nuts off both ends that is the first thing I would do. Then I would find a small tube long enough to go thru the wheel steering down thru or to the hole. Then I would insert the cable into the tube down to and thru the exit on the bottom of the wheel steering and then slide the tube back up and over the remaing cable and that saved alot of work. Hope this works for you all.
