The current mounting for our GPS is to the right of the hatchway on the bulkhead, and it's so far away that it's hard to read and impossible to program from the helm. I want to locate it closer to the helm and rail seat, so the ideal spot will be next to the railing on the coaming. There's enough cable for the routing, but is there an easy way to route the cables through the ceiling material? All I can see to do is to drill the hole and then try to fish the cables after the fact. There has to be a better/more logical way?

Is this a power cable?

George, the connector to the GPS is a double cable. One is the power and the other the sonar. I can't see any way to remove the ceiling panel in the berth below, and I'd prefer to keep the cables hidden instead of running them along the ceiling to the circuit breaker panel. I want to mount the unit just behind the drink holder cut-outs, so fishing the cable will be made difficult because it'll have to drop about 7" before it turns towards the front to the panel.

Hi Rick, George clued me in

What kind of setup do you have? Wheel steering or tiller? There is enough room if you have the wheel to run cables down the pedestal and out the back to the transom. From there you can make an access hole and bring the wring back inside the boat where the battery and holding is. Give me an email if you need more info. Jim S/V Java
