Release paper?

What's the application? If you're molding something, a release was, available at West Marine is used to coat the plug or the mold, as the case may be. If you're patching or refinishing a flat spot, a 'Saran' type of plastic film squeegied over the patch usually works to give a smooth finish.

release materials

A heavy gauge polyethylene plastic works well (drop cloth plastic like Visqueen). Sometimes Saran wrap gets stuck if it's wrinkled. Wax paper does not work well. The best material is a release fabric - it can be squeegeed quite firmly without moving any glass laminated beneath it, and the surface is ready for whatever you're putting on next without surface prep unless its finish painting.

Application

The application in question is bulkhead repairs. I am filling in old instrument holes in the cabin bulkhead next to the companionway. The new instruments require a smaller hole, thus the need to fill in and re-drill the existing holes. Dean
