We have been restoring an o'day 23 and are down to the final few tasks. The biggest problem at this point is the keel. We have used a floor jack and managed to get the keel in the groove where is belongs, but we can't seem to get the bolts to screw all the way down. Any help would be much appreciated!

Karen - Tough call. Do you have any idea what its hanging up on? Is something unfair or could there possibly be debris in it? Hate to leave you hanging it could be almost anything. Where are you located, maybe someone is near by and could check it out for you. Justin - O'day Owners' Web

Seal Thickness

I've got a 1972 O'Day 23' swing keel. On mine, there appears to be a rather thick seal or a lot of caulk between the keel and the hull. It could be that the bolt lengths are sufficient for compressing this seal, without completely closing the gap. Good luck with her, I love sailing mine!

Need Keel Weight

I have a 23 O'day and have totally lost the swing keel. Can you please tell me the approximate weight of your keel. The bottom is being painted now, so I need to find out ASAP. Thanks. Good luck with your project.
