New Hunter 25.5 owner here with a questions.
Currently have an 80+lb 8hp Merc on the transom with an engine mount that might need to be replaced. I am also concerned with the weight of the engine and the stress it has on the transom. The bottom of the bracket seems to add significant stress on the transom. Also It is very difficult to raise the motor out of the water without help. Simply can not raise the boat with one hand and release the down/up lock with the other. I need both hands to raise the motor.
- Is there a fix I can make to the mount to make it more user friendly (i.e a new spring or something) and ease the force needed to raise the motor?
- Has anyone done reinforcing to their engine mount where it meets the hull to spread the weight out more evenly? If so, can I use the same bolt holes, how would you recommend doing a repair with the boat in the water, and can you post pics of your work?
Unfortunately I failed to take photos but will soon and I'll re-post them here if it helps answer the question.

You can use marine grade plywood and glass it in or aluminum plates and longer bolts and make a sandwich . Yes use exist holes . When ya have bracket off for sandwich making take a look at it's mechanism see if greece or new spring will add pep to it's up and down action maybe a model # to get parts
