Removing numbers

Very simple. Use a hair dryer and they will come right off. A plastic scraper may be necessary. Use paint thinner or another solvent to clean up the adhesive residue. I have done this many times.

#'s

Hi Macklin; I just spent a morning replacing my shear stripe tape, same material as registration #'s. As the other poster advised, I used a small hair dryer and a single edge razor blade moving along behind the dryer on the warm tape. Use a very slight angle to avoid digging into the gelcoat. When the numbers are all off, use paint thinner or acetone to remove the left over glue. Then, I used a little 3M Finessit polish to "smooth out" the color difference where the letters shielded the gelcoat from the harsh effects of the sun. good luck Dave

blade, dull the side that is next to the hull. That will lower the chance of gouging the gel coat as you scrape. Just rub one side of the blade on an uneven metal surface to dull the edge, mark one side so you know which side has been dulled. It works! I helped a friend remove the cove stripe on his boat. No gouges on either side.
