Registering Boat in IL

Can someone help with info on registering and licensing a boat I am purchasing in IL. I live in MO but will keep the boat at Crab Orchard in IL..... I understand I may be able to register it in IL instead of MO.......Appreciate any help you can give.....Thanks, Bill

Register it where it lives.

Bill:You will need to register it where ever it lives. If the boat is living in IL then that is where your registeration needs to be. If you have a trailer and you plan on hauling it each year, you may want to register the trailer in your home state.If you haul the boat every time you use it, it will probalby not make any difference where the registeration is from.If you are purchasing the boat from a dealer, they will probably handle the registration for you.

Do it by mail

Bill,I did it all by mail. I downloaded the following form and mailed it in. They mailed me me my registration and title. Be patient, it wasn't exactly a speedy process.Feel free to email my at haakeg@earthlink.net if you have any questions.
