The Commodore of Club Nautico Internacional Hemingway de Cuba, Mr Jose Diaz Eschrich has issued an invitation for a Regatta to be held on April 27, 2012. The regatta is open to all cruising vessels and there is no ($0.00) registration fees. Prizes will be given based on corrected times according to the ratings and will be governed by ISAF. Participants will enjoy the same benefits granted to Club members at Marina Heminghway for their stay.
If interested contact Mr. Diaz Escrich at " yachtclub@cnih.mh.tur.cu " to be sent a formal letter of invitation to be presented to Cuban authorities upon entry.
Travel restrictions to Cuba have not been lifted but the current USA administration seems to easing enforcement. Have not heard of any recent harrasment to sponsored US vessels visiting Cuba. Right around that time there will be the Regatta del Sol al Sol from St Petersburg, FL to Isla Mujeres, Mexico. It may be convenient for boats returning to the US to perhaps vear off and participate in that one day event in Havana. Check the dates on the regatta del sol. I'm not into racing but would love to cruise Cuba and events like this may help tear down those restrictions.
