Has anyone added a refrigerator to their Hunter 31 (83-87)? If so I would be interested in where it was located and a picture if available. Thanks, Mickey

Replaced the stove

On my 1980 33, I took out the stove and put a small refridge in its place. I have a board on top the refridge. When cooking a Origo 3000 stove top is moved onto the board. Normally the stove is stored and leaves additional counter space for other uses.

Refridge added to my 31H

I added a refrigerator to our 1987 H31', in the icebox, this summer and it works great. It is located in the starbord storage area of the cockpit, I call it the hell hole. I can just squeeze in. I placed the compressor unit just above the hotwater heater. It does not take up much room and it is located just behind the icebox. Like Paul, we removed our stove and replaced it with a cabinet for more storage space and counter space. We have installed a mircowave and added a small toaster oven. I grill a lot off the cockpit Force 10 grill. We found out we did not need the stove. I will send a pictrue later this week by emal or post a picture. Our Hunter is the Irish Rogue and a picture is posted on this site.

Refrig added to '87 31H

Hey Larry, How about some more details about your ice box unit? What kind is it, where did you get it and how much?? I know what you mean by the "hell hole" I just pulled out the original hot water heater and diesel tank in our '84 H31. How hard was your refrig. unit to install? Any special hints that you learned to make it easier? Thank you!

I like Dan's frig but

I do like Dan's refrig but he might have had a larger area to work with on his H34 than a H31. We looked at doing something similar but couldn't seem to find one large enough for us that would fit in the stove area, plus we like the additional storage area. We are planning on going up to our sail boat this weekend. The exact information about the frig is on the boat, but it will be similar to the one in West Marine Catalog page 751 or you can check out their web site. My cost was $200 - $300 I can reminder the exact amount. It want take a very large one to cool the ice box and have ice in the evaporator trays. We leave it on when we leave for home, but only keep drinks in the it. When installing make sure you get the wires correct, we had to call the company tec person to guide us through. But it works now.

The refer. unit you describe costs at least $800 in West Marine online catalog. How did you get it for $200 or $300!? Can you get more?
