Hi All - I hope everyone is well. I am about to order a new Isotherm Refrigerator for my Catalina 30 and before I place the order - I wanted to hear back any pros and cons with regard to Isotherm and/or the Cruise 49. Based off my needs and uses - this type of front-opening unit suites me fine and my DC bank will support it. I have access to shore power as well. The size is small but it will just about fit into the space I want to mount it ('78 Catalina 30 - replace the 2 draws located on the aft bulkhead of the galley). Thanks and appreciate any opinions. Have a Merry Christmas / Happy Holiday to all! Rob

Isotherm SP on our Hunter Vision 36.

Rob: We installed an Isotherm SP on board our Hunter Vision 36. The unit that I am refering to is an Ice Box conversion. It uses the seawater to cool the freon. The device replaced your sink drain thru hull fitting. I very seldom if ever hear it running. I normally need to keep it at a fairly high setting so things don't freeze. I believe that you may be referring to one of their complete units. I would take a look at the SP units before you start cutting up your boat. The price was about $1200 for our unit, I purchase one that is slightly larger than I needed.

are great units especially if you sail in cold water. The colder the water the more efficient the unit is. They don't work to good in the Carib. The water is to warm.
