I recently installed refrigeration a friends boat that has a house bank of 2 6 volt G/C batteries. What is the normal house bank on a new hunter 33 with refrigeration? Are 2 G/C's enough juice - my belief is that they would have a usable amperage capacity of about 125 amp hours and the refrig only draws on average 3 amps so it should be ample. Any thoughts, Electrically Challenged

how long are you going to be without a charge?

Don: If you are only going to be out for the day or overnite you are 'probably' going to be fine. Are these batteries dedicated to the refrigeration? You realize that you can only draw these batteries down to about 50%, so 3 amps would provide you with about 20 hrs for 125 amps or 40 hrs if you really have 250 amps of compressor running time. If you are running other items on these batteries, you are going to need more batteries or charging.

I'll know soon

I just installed 2 Trojan T-140 GC batteries for the house in my Vision 32. I have not yet installed the Norcold SCQT 4407 conversion refrigeration. So, I'll soon find out how well 2 GC batteries work.
