12V

We have Grunert water circulating refrigeration. It works very good. The freezer will make ice cubes and it is not at its lowest setting. It does draw on the batteries; so, you have to monitor the situation when not in a charging mode. Anyway, check them out on their web site.

Not sure what you are requesting about 380

refrigeration. My Hunter 380 came with a Grunert water circulating system for both the freezer and the refrigerator. However, it did not work well when we got the boat in 1999 and although I have up-graded it, it is still not to my satisfaction. Without making this too long, we have placed cold plates in both the freezer and the refrigeration. However, I am still getting too much frost in the freezer which seems to me to indicate an air leak. Hunter says it's Grunert's problem, and Grunert says it's Hunter's problem. No one seems to want to fix it. I think the lid does not set well even though I have resealed all the edges and added a new latch from the top. I plan to continue working on this problem during the fall and winter season. If you have specific questions, let me know.

I don't believe tha refrigeration is standard equip on a 380 now. It's quite posbile there are a few of them out there with ice boxes, in need of a system. I _think_ that's what the question pertains to... maybe.

HUNTER 380 with Adler/Barbour

The boat is now fitted with the Adler/Barbour refrigeration system which was designed specifically to meet the requirements for this box. The freezer has a custom built evaporator which covers three of the four walls and a thermostat controlled fan mounted in the dividing wall to circulate the cold air from the freezer into the refrigerator compartment. The unit operates on 12v dc and will require 4.6 amps to keep the freezer at 22F and refrigerator at 37F with the outside temperature being 100F. Actual performance will vary with different box loads. If you have any more questions please contact me at pwilliams@waecoadlerbarbour.com

380 fridge

I have the Frigoboat Air Cooled model AV installed by the dealer in my 380. Same set up as Phil mentioned with a thermostatically controlled fan to move the air to the reefer side. Draws in 24 hours less than 27 amps. My dock neighbor has the "keel cooler" (same company) and tells me he is pulling 18 amps total for the day. Not sure if he is "keeping up with the Jones's" or really only pulls that much.

Our 380 Refer Saga

Check the 380 archives for my recent post "Referigeration Blues - final update" for the details of our refrigerator saga... We solved our Grunert freezer problems and now we see 10 degrees in the freezer section with the thermostat set at mid-range. The refrigerator section is about 38 degrees, but the thermostat has been set at below mid-range. We'll change that to see if we can maintain aoout 34-36 degrees.

To Phil Williams

My 99 380 came without refridgeration which I'm thinking of adding. Can you email me more info about the system you described in your post here. Many thanks, Bob Knott rjknott@mediaone.net 508-432-1967
