I am looking to purchase a H306 and I am contemplating getting the Hunter refrigeration and A/C? I will not be staying on my boat for longer than two or three days at a time, so can I get by with the Ice box? Is the 12000 btu A/C standard? Michael

I got my 2001-290 same boat and had the dealer put in 12 volt ref up in the northeast, peopletold me getting ice was a real pain I love it for day sailing and weekends,I didn't get ac .

yes, but it is SOOOO nice.

Michael: We got a refrigeration system for the icebox about 5 years ago. My WIFE thinks it is the best thing that we ever did. When you get to the boat the beer is cold (so are the mayo and other assorted items). I do not think I would consider another boat without one. But to answer your question, of course you can do without it. You can also do without your AC (but would you?).

Never needed either

Maybe sailing on the Great Lakes is a little different. It's usually a cool breeze at night, so AC isn't an issue. I've stayed on my boat for up to 2 weeks without refridgeration. I did add 2 inches of insulation to the ice box and 2 bags of ice last about 3 days. I keep them in the bags so getting things from the bottom is easier, just poke holes so the water can leak out.

Depends on your climate

Down here in Florida, neither is really an option. They are necessities. It is quite nice to have a cold brew waiting at the dock. Ice in the box during the summer won't last very long. Ice down in the Bahamas is about as expensive as diesel. If you live North of the Mason/Dixon line you can probably do without AC. At least get the refer. I don't think you'll be sorry.

A/C is a must but

Refrigeration is just nice. That what God made ice for.

Get both, you won't be sorry

Michael; My h340 came with factory installed refrigerator, the Adler Barbour Cold Machine and now I would never buy a boat without refrigeration. I almost didn't get it trying to save bucks on the initial purchase but I say it is very much worth getting this factory installed option. As Dr. Phil says; "What was I thinking!!". No messing with purchasing ice except 1 bag for drinks and it keeps fine in the reefer. I installed an AC / Reverse cycle heat pump system as I did not get the factory option AC and the heat came in handy on Easter weekend at Ocracoke Island when the nightime temp went down into the 40's . The AC is really nice in July and August on a hot summer night at the marina and that is the time when I really appreciate that.
