refit keel

ok need to reset keel on 272 oday; now my question, has anyone change the keel for a deeper one like the one on the 27 any cost ideas (reason will like abit more stability)thanks

The p.o. on my boat shorten the keel and added led to each side at the bottom. Gives the boat more righting moment but a more shallow draft. I think there are pictures of the keel on my profile.

thanks looks great was the keel remove and lead added or was it bolt to the keel ,I can go 8 to 12 inches deeper

I think it was cut down and the led was bolted to the sides. It was glassed in to give it shape. I see what you want to do with the longer keel but you might want to consider added weight and keep the shoal draft. I guess it depends where you are sailing. I would not want to go any deeper than a 5 foot draft in the Chesapeake or Barnagate bay NJ area-- my sailing grounds.
