Refinishing Interior Wood Floors

I would like to refinish the interior wood floors on my Hunter Legend 37. The wood appears to be finished in polyeurthune or something similar. Does anyone have any advice as to how I should proceed to restore the gloss finish.ThanksBarrie

Daly's

Barrie. Hunter uses Daly's ProFin finish on the decks of your vintage boats. On the other woodwork, they use Daly's SeaFin. Daly's is located in your neck of the woods. They are known as Daly's Home Decorating Centers and are located in Seattle and Bellevue, WA. They have a web site, but have changed the name that I used to remember. You might find them in the archives.I had contacted Hunter a few years ago and then I ordered direct from Daly's.

Based on some prior recommendations on this site, I acquired some Daly's SeaFin for the cabin woodwork. It was actually able to be ordered through WM, so you may want to check there. The results on my L-37 were nothing less than extraordinary. This is a new boat for us, and we had actually anticipated that we would have to strip, sand, and refinish, but instead have brought the wood back to life with a little cleaning and the SeaFin application. Knowing this, when it comes time for the floors, I will definitely go the Daly's route again.

I used Daley's on my L37

Based upon Paul's recommendation I refinished my interior woodwork with Daley's and was very happy with the outcome.You can't go wrong with thier product.

MinWax Helmsman Spar Urethane

I am refinishing the floors of my Catalina 36. I have redone two fo them already and am working on two more. I first finished that backs with sealer and two coats of Bilgekote paint. The tops I sanded down to bare wood, then put on two coats of gloss followed by two coats of satin. I sanded between coats with 220 sandpaper. Comes out very nice.I am finding out that with any refinishing effort, base preparation is very important for a lasting finish.Good luck,Les Murrays/v Ceilidh86 C-36 #560
