Refinish interior wood

I am trying to refinish the wood around the companion way where the sun has damaged the finish. Dried and crackled finish with exposed wood in streaks.
Due to previous threads we have the Mohawk products and tried them yesterday. We had good results on the less affected areas but where there is wood exposed it had no effect.
I guess I need to restain prior to using the laquer. Does anyone know what product is best to use to match the existing (Cherry?) stain?
Or is there another way?

Are you sure the wood is Cherry,I thought all the none laminate the real wood was really teak.
I was told by Hunter when at the Hunter factory tour in Florida that my 2007 H-36 was one of the last boats made with teak and during the factory tour showed me all the new boats and and cabinets being made with cherry to keep the cost down.

I'm not sure. And I guess that's what I'm asking. Plan A didn't work. What is plan B?
The boat is a 2002.

There is enough difference in the appearance of cherry and teak that you should have no difficuly distinguishing them. You can start with Minwax oil stain and then get a few tubes of artist's oil colors to modify the stain for a better match. Plan on a lot of trial and error.

If you know a good carpenter or woodworker, he or she could probably tell you what kind of wood it is.

Trial and error

Yes it will be a trial and error to try and match or come close to looking good.
I did that on my motor home where the sun had faded parts of the wood,find a section that is hidden and try very small cans of stain on it until you get it to match.
I think I had used three cans until I got a good match.

After a lot of trial and error on my own, my local sherwin williams color matched some stain for me at no charge other than the cost of the quart of stain I was buying. I took them a sample of what I was trying to match and also a piece of the scrap bare wood I was going to be finishing. It came out perfect and I now have most of a quart left for future projects.

Teak

Most of the wood on your model year should be teak.
My 2007 H-36 has teak wood trim that they use on all the corners and railing with any larger area like walls are a laminate and really holds up very well,sorry to say where the teak wood is used like corners do get marked up easy and hard to fix up to match.
Hunter did give owners touch up kits for my model year.
