I'm planning on installing an Aldor/Barbour Cold Machinine on my H34. Interested in hearing from other owners who have installed one (or other brands). Where's the best place to install the compressor unit in the cockpit locker? Thanks! Joe

OJoe!

Joe: I am not sure how the H'34 is set up but our 1985 H'31 has a lazarette under the helm seat. I placed the compressor on the starboard side of the locker. Plenty of air circulation around it. I then built a fence out of polyboard from TAP Plastics. This keeps the fenders, anchors etc from comming in contact with the compressor. By the way, we went with a Technautics Marine unit. It is their coastal unit that is DC powered ONLY. Their newer Cool Blue units are one of the most efficient units on the market. They use a holding plate.

It's tight..............

I have a 1983 34' and the compressor is loated in the starboard cockpit locker up high on the little "shelf". It seems to work just fine there but it is a pain to get to for repairs.

Aft Dinette Seat

I have a 1983 H34 and the A/B compressor on my boat is mounted at the outside starboard edge in the aft dinette seat. A small circular vent has been added in the base of the seat facing forward to provide additional ventilation. Seems to work very well here. My water heater is in the middle of that space and the battery bank (4 6v deep cycle batteries in two banks) is located on the inboard edge. Just curious if anyone knows what (if anything) was in this space before. Looks like the water heater was standard, but I'm sure the battery bank has been relocated.
