Reefing sheaves

I recently purchased a 1991 Cat 28. The manual in the boat shows two reefing sheaves in the mast end of the boom. My boat does not have them and the reefing line seems hard to handle as the line runs thru a shackle on mast. Any ideas for correction of this would be appreciated.

BOOM REEFING

BOB..Catalina drawing # 280-35003-0 shows the boom and the SINGLE line reefing set-up with the sheaves. Also drawing #280-35002-0 shows the halyard/other lines arrangement on the cabin top. Both these drawings show only 1 reef point but I'm sure a creative person can arrange for a second reef system. These drawings is from MY 1991 Catalina 28 book and if you need a copy of them let me know and I will scan them and send you the jpg files. Last season I replaced the masthead sheaves that I bought from Catalina Direct. The origional sheaves are white plastic with NO wear inserts, the new ones have a brass insert the prevents (delays)rounding othe the holes that also caused the hole to flange out binding the sheave to the ajoining metal. I suggest that you remove ALL sheaves and inspect then you can do it right the first time. GOOD LUCK Dave Slepoy KDSSAIL@HOTMAIL.COM
