Reefing on O'Day 322

Does anyone with an O'Day 322 or similar boat (maybe a 302 or 272) have a reef hook at the gooseneck of the boom? I know the 322 was set up for single line feeding, but I am not a big fan. Prefer to hook the tack on a reef hook and use the reef line to pull down the clew. My hunter 280 had a nice "rams horn" at the gooseneck, but my new to me O'Day 322 does not have any sort of hook for the reef tack.

Curious to see some photos of other set ups so I can fashion something similar.

Why don't you like the single line? I love it on my 302. Can put a reef in and shake it out all without having to leave the cockpit.

My 35 has a "rams horn" style hook at the gooseneck. Try rig rite, they carry the parts for the old Isomat masts.

Why don't you like the single line? I love it on my 302. Can put a reef in and shake it out all without having to leave the cockpit.

I had single-line reneging on my Hunter 280, but it did not seem to tension evenly or very tight.

Have not tired it on the O'Day...I guess I can try it. Maybe it was a poor setup on the Hunter.

great. I will check them out. Is there a hole in the gooseneck fitting for a hook? I don't recall seeing one on my boat, but will be at the yard this weekend to take another look.

The verticle pin for the gooseneck goes through the reefing hook then down into the gooseneck. A castellated nut is on the bottom to secure it. I have an Isomat mast so yours may be different if you have a different mast.

just a nut with slots in the top for a cotter pin to sit in.

I suppose I can put a hook in the hole you see in the gooseneck fitting.

You could get 2 single hooks and bolt them through that hole just above the gooseneck pivot.
