I regularly sail on a friend's O'Day 25. Last weekend while out I spent some time trying to figure out how to reef the main. I did not find a hook near the gooseneck for the reef tack nor did I find hardware at the aft end of the boom for a second outhaul. Does anybody here have good instructions on how to reef the main? Thanks, Brian

Really depends on the individual boat

Brian - Are there blocks on the mast end of the boom, or on the mast near the gooseneck? If so, the reefing lines may run through them with no hook involved. Similarly, some boats with jiffy reef systems do not have secondary outhauls. Also, that boat may have a reef hook that attaches to the sail, then ties to a cleat with a line, instead of being permanently attached to the spars. Any of that jive with what you saw? Reefing OD 25

Hi Brian I will tell you how I reef my OD25 and see if it would work for you. I don't have a hook by the gooseneck eighter so I run a short line from a cleat on one side of the mast up through the reefing cringle and down to another cleat on the other side of the mast. For the leech I have a jiffy reefing system with a line that runs from the port side of the boom up through the reefing cringle and down through a block on the starboard side and then forward to a cleat on the boom near the mast. Hope this helps. Paul
